We were the first to to start planting trees to promote indigenous wildlife and improve the free range habitat of our hens – this began over a decade ago.

woodland & wildlife – creating woodland habitats & supporting our wildlife
‘Worth every penny’ – for every dozen eggs sold we invest 1p in wildlife preservation
Did you know that our farms have on average, planted over 12000 trees?
Native tree’s make a great woodland habitat for a host of wildlife and wildflowers. Protecting these habitats is important and we ensure all our farmer producers encourage natural wildlife by planting trees and shrubs that would naturally grow in their region. We work with the Farming and Wildlife Advisory Group to ensure we create the best environment for our hens to forage and our wildlife to prosper.
Our woodlands boast an array of flora and fauna – and depending where our hens live, they come across some of Britain’s most endangered species too. What our happy workers see in one region of the UK may differ in another – that’s why we look at protecting our woodlands, flora and fauna at a regional level.
You can learn more about each of these rare creatures and what is being done to protect or encourage them in each of the following areas:

Around the UK there are 47 Wildlife Trusts who care for conservation at regional levels.
Visit the Wildlife Trust or the Wildlife Trust local action area page for a map of the Trust areas.
There are UK Bio Diversity action plans for our rarest British flora and fauna. Find out more about the species most at risk and see the National and local action plans that are in place to help preserve them.
